It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Allen Burton Kaye, 82, 0f Hillsurn at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville on Sunday June 28, 2026.  He was the son of the late Sadie (Hamilton) and Regional Kaye. Allen is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anna (Chute) Kaye; daughter, Janeice Hill (Roger) of New Brunswick; grandson, Cody Hill (Jessica); great grandson, Levi Hill and great granddaughter Sierra Hill of Sexsmith, Alberta; grandsons, Todd Hill of Sexsmith, Alberta and Tyler Hill (Heidi); great grandsons, Liam, Titus and Elliot (Bosnia); daughter, Heidi Woolford (Kevin) , grand daughter Moriah Woolford of Cardinal,Ontario and grandson, Ethan Woolford of Saint John, New Brunswick.  His son, Martin Kaye (Corinne) of Brockville, Ontario; granddaughter, Danielle Barton (Brent); great grandsons, Cole and Benjamin Barton, both of Brockville, Ontario; granddaughter, Kelsey Lawson (Adam), of Brockville, Ontario; niece, Brenda Hudson, of Annapolis Valley; nephews, Scott and Todd Billard of British Columbia. Allen was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Myrtice Billard of British Columbia and Rosetta Harry of Annapolis Royal.

Allen was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He was a Fisherman out of the port of Digby for more than 50 years and loved his job.  While fishing took him away from his family for days at a time, he always made sure their needs were met and they never went without.  His first love outside his family was his love for His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Throughout the years, Allen was a long time member and deacon of the local church, the Sunday School Director, taught adult Sunday School class and preached at the local church on many occasions over the years.

He loved to cook for his family whether it was Sunday dinner or the Christmas/ Thanksgiving turkeys; he always made a BIG pot of his home-made Goulash that the entire family loved .  With most of the family moved away now he would always made sure everyone got their favourite meal when they were home to visit.  We could always count on at least one phone call a week just to check in and make sure everything was good with his family and to give updates on things going on back home.

Allen was totally dedicated to caring for and being with his wife.  After her stroke several years ago, which left her needing continual care, he refused to even consider placing her into a nursing home.  Without hesitation he took on the role as her 24-hr. care giver.  Their love and devotion to one another was/is unshakable and only grew stronger over the years.  Our father, grandfather and mentor to many will be greatly missed and leaves a huge hole in our family that can never be filled; but his lessons in Faith, Love and Devotion will live in us and those who knew him.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm July 3, 2026, in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal, with Rev. Deann Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsburn Cemetery, Hillsburn.
