Lucy “Jane” Harlow, 72, of Granville Centre, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of family. 

Born and raised in Bridgetown, Nova Scotia, Jane was the second of five children born to Nathalie Ann Harlow (née Hogan) and Daniel Harlow. She was a vibrant and creative spirit, smart, funny, artistic, opinionated, she embraced life wholeheartedly and encouraged others to do the same. In 1974, she was proudly crowned Queen Annapolisa, an honor and experience she cherished and was proud of throughout her life.

After graduating from Bridgetown Regional High School, Jane attended Mount Allison University, earning her degree in 1975. Her university years nurtured her natural artistic talents and appreciation for creativity, beauty, and culture, and it is here where she met her cherished lifelong friend, Barb Ryan (née Ellis). Following graduation, she lived briefly in Florida with cherished memories, before eventually settling in Montreal, where she raised her family and built a life filled with friendship, love, and meaningful work.

After raising her family and retiring, Jane made her way back home to Nova Scotia, where her heart was very happy. There, she met her beloved spouse and partner, Mike, and together they spent the years that followed building a life rich with love, laughter, projects that bore the fruits of their labor, and countless adventures, travels, and memorable journeys. 

Jane devoted more than 25 years to Air Canada, where her warmth, professionalism, and quick wit made her a favorite among colleagues and travelers alike. Prior to joining Air Canada, she worked with several airlines, remaining dedicated to an industry she genuinely loved throughout her career. Her passion for travel extended far beyond her work. Jane delighted in meeting new people, experiencing different cultures, and discovering exceptional food and craftsmanship. She traveled extensively throughout her life and returned only last August from a memorable journey through Croatia, Italy, Greece, Belgium, and Ireland. 

Despite her many travels, Jane remained deeply proud of her roots in Bridgetown and treasured the family cottage in Granville Centre. Together, she and Mike lovingly rebuilt and restored the cottage, creating a gathering place filled with laughter, love, and lasting memories. Their shared vision and hard work eventually led to the construction of a guest house on the property, creating a welcoming retreat where family and friends could visit, spend time together, and take in the beauty of the Annapolis River. They also spent many happy winters in Myrtle Beach, where they formed cherished friendships and enjoyed countless wonderful times together. 

Jane also had a passion for discovering unique treasures, artwork, antiques, and special finds through countless buy-and-sell adventures. She took great pleasure in sharing these discoveries with family and friends, often calling her step-grandchildren to retrieve treasures she had purchased. Music was another great love in her life. She never passed up an opportunity for a sing-along, a spirited debate over song lyrics, or a turn on the dance floor. An ardent fan of the New England Patriots and the Toronto Blue Jays, Jane could often be found cheering on her favorite teams and sharing in the excitement of game day with family and friends.

Jane is survived by her beloved spouse and partner, Mike Dudka; her adored children, Jessica Wolfe-Ligety (Chris), Jack Glover (Zoe), and Ben Glover (Kate); her loving stepchildren, Kevin Dudka (Mary Sue), Matthew Dudka (Amanda), and Erin MacDonald (Todd); and her cherished grandchildren, Eliza Ligety and Finley Davis, of whom she was immensely proud. Even during her final days, Jane delighted in showing photos of her grandchildren to anyone who would look. Their accomplishments and happiness brought her endless joy, as did the beautiful memories captured through the lens of her talented daughter, Jessica. 

She is also lovingly remembered by her step-grandchildren, Chloe Dudka, Sophie Dudka, Ava MacDonald, Regan MacDonald, Griffen Dahan, and Riley Dudka; her siblings, Tim Harlow of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan,  Amy Dewhirst of Victoria Beach, and Lisa (Max) Fossum of Black Creek, British Columbia; her lifelong family friend from Bridgetown, Gail Neville; and her special Aunt Mary, with whom she shared a treasured bond. Together they spent several winters in Myrtle Beach and summered side by side in cottages along the idyllic and mighty Annapolis River.  

Jane leaves behind her beloved fur family as well: Jacqui, her cherished dog; Willow, the spunky and often unpredictable Golden Retriever; and George, her spirited cat of more than a decade. Each brought her great comfort, companionship, and unconditional love.                  

She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Ann Harlow, whose memory she carried close to her heart and spoke of often; her parents, Nathalie Ann Harlow and Daniel Harlow; her stepson, Marc Dudka; brother-in-law, Blake, and her treasured cat, Gracie. 

Jane's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, resilience, creativity, friendship, and adventure. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. 

The family would also like to extend special and heartfelt gratitude to those friends who went beyond the bounds of ordinary friendship and took the role of family to support Jane through the most difficult time of her life: David Graves, Alice Britton, Jane Borecky, and Val Gallant. Your unwavering kindness, compassion, and devotion to Jane will never be forgotten and will always be remembered with deep appreciation. 

Cremation has taken place, and a private family ceremony will be held.

Family and friends are warmly invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Harlow/Dudka property, 6 Massachusetts Road, Granville Centre. All are welcome to join in celebrating and toasting the wonderful person Jane was while sharing stories, laughter, a song, and memories of a life so beautifully lived. 

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
