Jon L. J. Peddie Obituary

Jon Leonard Peddie, aged 80, of Cornwallis Park and formerly of Guelph, died 1 June 2026.

Jon was much loved husband, father, grandfather ('Bumpy'), brother and friend. Those who knew him appreciated his warmth, sense of humour, generosity, and hard working qualities.

He was born on September 19, 1945 in Long Branch, Toronto, Ontario to John William and Edith (Annabelle) Peddie. Throughout his childhood, the family moved frequently and Jon and his three sisters Barbara, Donna-Lee and Lana attended schools in the Greater Toronto Area and North Battleford, Saskatchewan.

Jon was active in Scouting, from Cubs on up to Rovers where he achieved his Bushman's Thong as well as the honour of Queens Scout. He later became a Scout Leader for many years in Guelph.

Jon married RoseMary in 1967 and they had two children, Jon Michael and Jennifer Lea.

When he left university Jon worked for Household Finance for about 10 years before spending the rest of his career working at Hammond's Manufacturing and then Melitron in Guelph.

Jon loved to travel to visit his friends and family throughout Canada and overseas. He enjoyed the outdoors: camping, hiking, canoeing and fishing. He also relished music, watching his beloved Argos and Maple Leafs, and playing card games with friends and family.

He is survived and fondly remembered by his loving wife RoseMary, son Jon (Anna), daughter Jennifer (Chris) and grandchildren Angus, Bridget, Alice and Rose.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Edith (Annabelle) and older sister Barbara.

Jon was cremated by Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and a celebration of life will be held at a date  in the future, to be confirmed.
