Douglas Rogers Wolfe Obituary

Douglas R Wolfe

Jan/21/1937 – May/12/2026

The Family of the Late Douglas R Wolfe wish to announce the passing of our beloved father Douglas R Wolfe on May 12,2026, in his home with family by his side. Doug was the son of the late Harvey Rodgers Wolfe and Mary Ellen Wolfe. Born in Liverpool, Doug was one of three children. In Doug’s younger years, he was placed in multiple foster care homes around beach meadows, Brooklyn, Liverpool and finally Caledonia.

In his younger years, Doug was a worker and a businessman. With only having grade 5 education, he taught himself with books. He started working for the Mersey loading pulp wood on train cars and later worked for the Caledonia Lumber Company. He worked for municipal construction as a Forman, building many overpasses from Liverpool to Kings Landing. When Doug’s wife Janette took sick, Doug decided to stay home and started building boats and canoes, then moved to building windows where he designed the first double hung window and missed the opportunity to patten it. Doug then started Wolfe Woodworkers, where he dried lumber for Caledonia Woodworkers owned by Timmy Atkins and Kenny Fader. In his last years, prior to retirement, Doug continued his love of woodworking where he, along with Janette started Lake Nancy Crafts working side by side until there health wouldn’t allow it.

At the young age of 17, Doug joined the Caledonia fire department where Randell Dukeshire sold him the ticket for one dollar. Doug was very involved in the department over his 70 years as a active member. One of Doug’s proudest moments was when his son Christopher took the role as chief. Over Doug’s years in the fire service, he met a lot of friends had a lot of laughs and of course some cries, but Doug cherished everyone in the department even when stirring the pot to get a good laugh.

Doug loved to paint. He had learned young as a child to do artist paintings watching Bob Ross and Jerry Yarnell He later mastered the art and sold buoys with the Lunenburg waterfront on them.

Doug is survived by his daughter Angela (John) Tantallon, son Christopher (Amanda) Caledonia, grand children Alaura, Brian, Payton, Hayden, Bryson, Shaylynn, Brayden, Shyann, Nyeah, Ayva, Aly and of course his trusty dog Molly, sister, Judy Frail and brother Donald Veinot.

Doug is predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Janette, daughter Ann Marie, beloved daughter in-law Melanie, father and mother, Oran and Dorothy Veinot, brother Lawrence, sister Sylvia, sister-in-law Shirley, nephew Belfour.

Donations may be made to North Queens Fire Association. Funeral service for Doug and Janette will be held on Sunday May,17.2026 @ 2pm at the North Queens Fire Station. Any firefighters attending please be at the station for 1 pm to be in Honour Guard.

We the family would like to thank Home Care, Palliative Care, VON, and all our family and friends. Special thanks to VON Nurse Carolyn Holdright, NP Renate Bennete and finally, his Wanda.
