Roy Vernon Mailman Obituary
Roy Vernon Mailman, 95 years old , Bridgetown, passed away at Mountain Lea Lodge on April 18th 2026. Born in Dalhousie West, he was the son of the late George and Mildred Mailman. They had been married for 73 years. He is survived by his wife Freda (Clarke) and son Steve (Trish), son Bruce (Kim), 5 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
During his working years he was President of Mailman Publishing Company Limited, publisher of 5 weekly newspapers in the Annapolis Valley. His flagship was the Digby Courier. He belonged to many organizations. He was president of the Bridgetown Board of Trade, President of the Bridgetown Lions, President of the Nova Scotia Weekly Newspapers Association, member of the Board of Directors, Canadian Community Newspapers Association and a member of Canadian Executive Services Overseas. He was a private pilot with over 500 hours of flying time.
Roy loved to travel and spent time in every province as well as visiting most of continental USA. They wintered in Florida for more than 25 years. He liked to say he was on every continent from just about the bottom of Africa to as far north as you could go unless you had an appointment with Santa Claus. His favourite country was Israel.
Cremation has taken place with burial at a later date. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
