Randy Samuel William Brewer Obituary
Randy Samuel William Brewer, 68 of Port Wade, passed away on April 9, 2026 in the QE II Halifax Infirmary. Randy was the son of Eleanor (Bachtold) and John Brewer Sr. and step son of Lillian Brewer.
Randy started his career as a young man working in his father’s auto body repair shop, in Saint John, New Brunswick. Randy loved cars and soon began to learn how to repair them as well.
Life changed completely when he met Dawn, the love of his life. He moved to Nova Scotia and became a scallop fisherman. In the early years he worked out of Riverport until 1980 when his first daughter was born. Randy remained in the fishing industry working on various scallop draggers, working as mate and sometimes skipper. In his final years he exclusively fished with Claude Ogilvie on the “Awesome’ and Tickled Pink”. His crew mates were often his nephews and other family members.
Randy is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dawn; sons, Brandon Sabean, of Calgary and Shannon Brewer, of Granville Centre; daughters, Miranda Brewer, of Greenwood and Rebecca Brewer, of Mapleridge, BC; sisters, Cheryl, of Hare Bay, NFLD, Sylvia, Cathy, Buffy, Tammy and Diane, all of Ontario; stepsisters, Adeline Outhouse and Lorna Parkes, both of St. John, NB; brothers, John Brewer Jr. of St. John, NB; stepbrothers, Gordon London, of Frederickton, NB; Joey London of St. John, NB; five grandchildren, Josey, Jadra, Harmony, Dawson and Lydia and 2 great granddaughters, Ariella and Adelina; over 70 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Mickel Brewer; stepbrothers, Sonny London, Ronnie London, Bobby London and Kenny London; stepsisters, Marilyn Sabean, Helen Savoie, Jennie Parisien, Donna Lake and Shirley London.
Following Randy’s wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal.
