James Angus Hall Obituary
James Angus “Gus” Hall
Gus was born in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland, to George and Betty Hall. Oldest of Eight. The family immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Gus was an avid collector of music, comic books, fiction & nonfiction books, sci fi memorabilia and old movies. Her especially enjoyed “bad movies”. He loved working at the Book Bindery, and at the radio station “In the U of M CJam” as a disc jockey. Gus especially loved music, genre didn’t matter. From Flapper, to blues to pop, rock, disco, some country and punk. He could tell you anything about a band, hear a song or a tune and name the song. He couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket but that didn’t dampen his love for music.
When Gus arrived in Nova Scotia, he knew he was here to stay. He said it reminded him of Scotland. Once here he was employed at Shaw on the Cornwallis base and when that closed, he went to Convergus. Although he didn’t stay with Convergus after they closed, he went on to be a team lead for other vendors until his retirement in 2025.
Gus was taken from us much to soon. His quick wit and sense of humor will be missed. He is survived by sister Joan (Ralph), Liz (Jim), Dianne (Ernie) and Margaret (Peter), brothers George and David. Along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Andrew.
He is survived by his wife Marylou AKA “My Lousy Sweetie”, Stepdaughters Ashlie and Amber, Stepson Jake. Four step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.
No funeral by request, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations to the Canadian cancer Society if desired.
Wherever you are my sweet, I will dance with you.
