William Henry Spurr

March 10, 1935 – March 22, 2026

Spurr, William (Bill) Henry (Jr.) – 91, of Kingston, NS. On March 22, 2026 at 9:30 pm, Bill passed away in his sleep at the Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton. Bill was born in the old Homestead, in Perotte, NS, on March 10, 1935, to the late William Henry and Nina Olive (Ramsey) Spurr. He was the oldest of 6 children.

At the age of 17, Bill joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) on July 23, 1952 as an Air Weapons Tech.  He served his country for over 32 years. He met the love of his life (Joan Delores Adamson) on a blind date in 1955 and they married on February 25, 1956 and eventually had five children. During his career, Bill was posted to Shearwater, Greenwood, Angus, Chatham Cold Lake – Jimmy Lake and back to Greenwood where he retired in 1985 and they made their home in Kingston. 

He is survived by his loving children David (1956) (Joan) Coldbrook, NS, Stephen (1958) (Dianna) Hantsport, NS, Patricia (1959) Edmonton, AB, Rodney (1960) (Sandra) Carp, ON, and Michael (1961) (Kim) East Point, PEI; stepbrother-in-law Harold (Pauline) Rice; sisters-in-law Carol Spurr, Meredith Spurr and Carol Anderson; grandchildren: Jocelyn, Matthew, Nicholas, Corey, Amanda, Christine and Mark; step-grandchildren: Andy, Cammie and Marcia; great grandchildren: Darren, Cassandra, Jason and Callum; step-great grandchildren Amber, Brenna, Alexander, Max and Henry; and a great-great grandchild Iris; nieces and nephews, a special mention of Deanna who visited Bill on a regular basis at home and in hospital.

He was predeceased by his wife Joan (2014), father William Henry Spurr (1958), mother Nina Olive (Spurr) Rice (2007), stepfather Gordon Rice (1983); sister Marion Spurr (2009), stepsisters Marjorie (Rice) Freeman (2010), Betty Spurr (wife of Henry) (2011), Jennie Spurr (wife of Winston (2011), Phyllis (Rice) Gates (2021), brothers: James (2018), Lawrence (2018), Winston (2017) and Henry (2020).

Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal, the funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm, with Father Jorden Draper officiating. Burial will follow in St. Marks Anglican Cemetery, Perotte.  A lunch will be provided at St. Luke’s after the burial. Donations may be sent to St. Mark’s Anglican Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.  The family would like to thank all the people who cared for Bill over the past years, particularly Dr. Rent, Dr. Smith and all the many doctors, nurses and health care providers that cared for him at both SMH in Middleton and VRH in Kentville, as well as the VON and Seniors Care by Angels. Special thanks to the Middleton Legion, particularly Donnie Sherman and Frank Robar for all your support and being Bill’s crib partners, as well as the ladies at the Kingston Farmers Market who he would visit daily and to Mary his and Joan’s long time hair dresser.
