Robert Henry Hartley Obituary
The family of Robert Henry Hartley (Bobby) is saddened to announce his passing on March 25th at the age of 77. Bobby was born on May 24th, 1948, and was raised in Milton, Massachusetts. Bobby lost his fight with pancreatic cancer but passed away peacefully in the care of the Soldiers Memorial Hospital staff.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jane; stepdaughter, Marion; and sister, Janie. He will also be remembered by the people from Jane’s family who new and loved him very much, including Marion’s biological brother Patrick who loved him as a dear uncle.
Bobby was predeceased by his parents Henry and Doreen (Dodie) Hartley, who adopted him when he was a baby. He attended Milton High School and shortly after graduation went to fight in Vietnam in 1968 where he was awarded for his bravery with two purple hearts.
Dodie Hartley was raised in Middleton, NS and would bring Bobby to visit every summer when he was a boy. Because of these good memories, Bobby moved to Bridgetown, NS in 1999, where he met Jane and baby Marion shortly after.
As a proud member of the Freemasons, he lived by brotherly love, and caring for those in his community. Masons “take an oath to act with respect and understanding towards other and to aid and support those who are in need.” He had a great sense of humor and a positive outlook on life that was often comforting to those around him.
There are no plans for memorial at this time.
