Patricia Mary Dill Obituary

Patricia Mary (Sullivan) Dill – December 1st 1943 – March 6th, 2026

It's with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Pat- our beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law.

Born and raised in Halifax, daughter of L. Vivian (Whalen) and Julius Sullivan.  Pat attended Saint Joseph’s elementary school, then Saint Patrick’s high school.  Following high school, she went to Mount Saint Vincent for a Bachelor of Arts, then Master of Social Work from St. Mary’s university and the Maritime School of Social Work.

Pat’s first employment was as a child social worker at the Child Guidance Center at the Children’s Hospital in Halifax.  After marrying her husband Alan in 1968, Pat took a hiatus from social work to raise her four children in Annapolis Royal.  She assisted in creating a play school for younger children, before returning to social work at Annapolis Royal General Hospital at an outreach clinic of Valley Mental Health.

Pat became a member, then chairperson, of the Annapolis Hospital Health Auxiliary, which lead to president of the Nova Scotia Association of Health Auxiliaries, then president of the Canadian Association of Health Auxiliaries.  She was subsequently awarded and recognized provincially for her volunteerism in 2003.

Upon Alan’s 2010 retirement, Pat and he were fortunate to have made three volunteer visits to KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, with NGO “Edzimkulu” – a society to provide assistance to children with HIV and tuberculosis.  There, she worked part time in a local orphanage, helped to build and train teaching staff for a pre-school and participated in a social community conference promoting gender equality in South Africa.

Pat is survived by her husband, her sister, Maureen and her four children Andrew (Janet), Heather (Allan Johnson), Ryan (Sarah) and Matthew (Jennifer), as well as six grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her parents and sister Carol Ann.

Following Pat’s wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal.  Visitation will be held 7-9 pm Tuesday, March 10, in the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal.  A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in St. Louis Catholic Church, Annapolis Royal, with Father Edwin Ewuzie officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Annapolis Royal. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Valley Hospice Foundation, Kentville.
