Apt, John Ellsworth – 89, of Port Wade, passed away December 30, 2025 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Port Wade, February 7, 1936, he was the son of the late Floyd and Helen Apt.

John married Gloria, October 27, 1958. He worked in Northern Ontario for the logging industry for over 30 years out of a small logging town. Put down roots mainly in a town named, Stevens, but then later relocated to Caramat. After retiring from logging, he and Gloria returned back home to Port Wade to work in the fishing industry until retirement. John was an avid Deer hunter, who looked forward to his time in the woods every fall. He also had a great love for Country and western music, and was a regular attender to the Port Wade jam Sessions, where he loved to listen to Gloria sing.

John is survived by his wife, Gloria; sons, Michael (Belinda), Norman (Cheri), Richard; grandsons, Justin (Carolyn), David (Hailey); granddaughter, Natasha (Anton); nine great grandchildren; siblings, Myrtle, Bobby, and Vera. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by son, Roland; brothers, Percy, Floyd, Gordon.

A visitation will be held 1-3pm Saturday January 3, 2026 at the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A celebration of John’s Life will take place at a later date.
