John Ronald Halliday

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear loved one after a long hard fight on dialysis.

John Ronald Halliday – 65, of Hillsburn, Annapolis County passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025 in Digby General Hospital. Born February 7, 1960 in Annapolis Royal, he was the son of the late Ronald and Jennie (Wile) Halliday, Hillsburn. John worked lots of jobs over the years. Fishing, clamming, and farming. He loved horses, and going to auctions. He traveled to many exhibitions and competitions. Johnny was quite political and stood with his convictions. Most of all John loved his family. He had a lovely relationship with his mother. A special big brother bond with Ginger. A visit with Russell, a cup of tea – vibrant Yarn, if you were interested or not. He was loved by his many nieces and nephews. Special loved ones – Anja and Tim.

John’s dream came true a couple years ago when he got to go to the Calgary Stampede.

He is survived by his companion, Wanda Foley; sisters, Brenda Whitmore, Middleton, June Taylor, Hillsburn, Fern Doucette, Parkers Cove, Cheri (Edgar) Troop, Bridgetown, Ginger Kinnie, Dartmouth; brother, Russell, Hillsburn; in-laws, Debbie and Jeanette Halliday, Roger Taylor; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Llewellyn and Lealand Halliday and sister, Dorothy (Little Dottie); in-laws, Roger Doucette, Diane (Taylor) Halliday; nieces and nephews, Johnny-Lee, Kevin, Jamie, Tammy Halliday and Dusty Doucette.

There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. There will be a graveside service 11am, Saturday, November 29, 2025 at the Hillsburn Cemetery, with Pastor Bob Elliot officiating. Reception to follow at the Hillsburn church. Donations in memory may be made to the Hillsburn Cemetery, Digby Dialysis Unit, support an exhibition or take a horse back ride.

The family wishes to send a very special thanks to the Digby Dialysis staff for their care and kindness. The family gives a loving thank you to Wanda for her continuous support, care and encouragement.
