Barteaux, Robert Merwyn, 85 of Moschelle Annapolis County passed away November 11th, 2025 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Annapolis Royal he was the son of the late Kenneth and Louise (Woodland) Barteaux.
Robert was a 7th generation farmer. He attended the Nova Scotia Agricultural College (class of ‘62) then returned to the family farm which included woodlots, orchards, vegetables, and beef. He was especially passionate about forestry and took great pride in the care of his woodlots, spending much of his free time walking in his orchards, woodlands and fields. Over the years he was a member of the Nova Scotia Fruit Growers Association and various woodlot associations. He was a past director and current member of the NS Federation of Agriculture and served as a warden for the St. John’s Anglican church, Moschelle. Bob was happiest being outdoors, but was also dedicated to journal writing, especially details about the farm, and was an avid reader of books about local history, nature and wildlife. He formed close bonds with his grandchildren, always supporting them in their interests, and loved to spend time with his friends.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Leila (Durling), Mountain & Meadows, Bridgetown; children Dwayne (Annette Earley), Moschelle, Kimberly (Troy) Hiltz, Centreville; grandchildren Keegan and Jonah Hiltz, Jordan and Shaunessy Barteaux; brother Keith, Moschelle as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Maurice, and David (infant).
Visitation will be held 6-8 pm, Monday from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Funeral service will be held 1 pm Tuesday, November 18th, Saint Luke’s Anglican Church, Annapolis Royal with a reception to follow. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery, Moschelle.
Donations in Robert’s memory may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Annapolis Community Health Centre.
