Sheila Maisie Clayton Obituary

It is with broken hearts and a deep gratitude for her life, that the family of Sheila Maisie Clayton announce her passing at the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville on November 8, 2025, at the age of 81, surrounded by love. She resided in her home in Hillsburn, Annapolis County, where she raised her family, until her passing.

Sheila was born on July 12, 1944 in Baxter's Harbour, Kings County to Maisie and Ernest Joyce. Sheila was raised in Baxter's Harbour until her family moved to Victoria Beach, Annapolis County, in her youth. She attended Annapolis Royal Regional Academy. Sheila worked faithfully alongside her husband, handling the bookkeeping for the family's fishing, forestry and auto shop businesses. She volunteered her time with various Christian youth groups, where her generosity and humour touched many lives.

Sheila was a bright spirit - fun, creative and full of life. Her quick wit, generous heart, and feisty energy could lighten any room she was in. She had an unmatched gift for making others feel loved and seen. Her creativity was boundless. She had a remarkable talent for turning trash into treasure, always seeing the potential where others saw discard. She proudly preferred her repurposed finds over anything new. Her

world sparkled with embellishments - vintage brooches, sequins, rhinestones, and her love of mini lights filled every corner of her home with a warm and whimsical glow. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, and all family, friends, even passing strangers were welcomed in for a treat, a laugh, and a little comfort. She believed no one should leave her home hungry or not cared for. She had a love of music, especially the kind shared among friends at the weekly jam sessions in Port Wade. Listening to others sing and play brought her endless joy and connection. She loved her camping trips, and any opportunity to sit around a glowing campfire with a cup of coffee and homemade toast and jam was worth all of the effort it took to get there.

She was an extraordinary mum and grandmother, a loyal friend, a devoted sister and a favourite aunt to many, always ready with a listening ear, a gift or a funny story to brighten your day. Her family was her greatest joy, and she celebrated every achievement as if it were her own.

She is survived by son Shane (Lori); daughter Vinna (Kyle Moore); granddaughters Dominique (Aaron), Olivia (Noah), Ella and Lily; great-grandchildren Owen, Keleah, Gabrielle, Brielle and Ainsley; sisters Elizabeth "Betty" Camsell and Wendy Trimper; brother-in-law Ralph (Frances); sisters-in-law, Anna Covert and Ruth Haynes; special cousin Isabelle Steele; special friend Dena McGrath; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews throughout Canada and the United States. She was predeceased by her husband Sherman; grandson Brett; brother William "Billy" Joyce; mother Maisie; and step father Melbourne Hudson Jr.

A service will be held at the Kaulbach Family Funeral home in Annapolis Royal on Friday November 14th at 2pm. Visitation will be Thursday November 13th from 6-8pm. Family flowers only. The family invites you to honour her memory by creating something beautiful in her name or donating to the maintenance of the Port Wade hall so others can continue to enjoy the fellowship of love and music.
