David Albert Sabean Obituary

David Albert Sabean

May 16, 1960 – August 26, 2025

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of our father and husband, David Albert Sabean, on August 26, 2025, at the age of 65.

Dave is survived by his loving wife Jackie, and his three daughters: Jennifer (Alison) Ponder, Sheralyn Sabean (Justin Thibideau), and Nicole (Adam) White. He was the proud grandfather of Trenton Sabean, Colton Sabean, Lexie Sabean, and step grandchildren Riley Denison, and Dylan Muise, who brought him endless joy.

Dave is also survived by his brothers Doug (Terry) Sabean, Dale (Ileen) Sabean, and Kenneth (Faye) Andrews, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him dearly.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Annette Andrews, and his brother Derrick Amero.

Dave was first and foremost a devoted husband and father. He taught his family how to love deeply, persevere through life’s challenges, and work hard with integrity. To his family, he was not just a guide but a steady source of strength, laughter, and unconditional love.

For many years, Dave worked as the meat manager at Graves Freshmart, where coworkers quickly became an extension of his family. Known for his kindness, sense of humor, and welcoming spirit, Dave had a gift for making everyone feel like they belonged.

Outside of work, music was one of Dave’s greatest joys. From an early age, he and his brother Doug began jamming together, a bond that carried through a lifetime. Dave played countless gigs throughout the province over the years with George Trefry, Lloyd Doucet and Terry Cromwell to name a few. Those bandmates — and their families — became part of Dave’s ever-expanding circle of love. His home was always open to friends, travelers, and wayward souls who needed a warm meal, good music, or simply a place to rest.

Dave’s legacy is one of love, music, and generosity. He will be remembered not only for the music he played but for the way he made people feel — welcomed, cherished, and never alone. He will be missed and remembered forever. HE WAS OUR HERO.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Annapolis Royal on September 6th, 2025 @ 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Valley Hospice in Kentville.
