Hudson, Raymond “Sonny” Reginald 

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Dad, Grampy, Brother, Uncle and Friend, Raymond “Sonny” Hudson on July 11th, 2025. Born on March 2nd, 1946 to the late Raymond Reginald Hudson Sr and Mona Pearl Hudson (Condon). As a little boy Sonny would often go to Digby with his father to go out on the boat with him, sparking his love for fishing at a young age. He went on to become the captain and owner of many boats over the years, passing on his love of fishing to his late son, Stacy Raymond Hudson. After his retirement, he still loved boat talk, spending time on Digby wharf watching what was going on that morning, hoping to see a familiar face he could talk about his old fishing days with. Not only was Sonny a proud fishermen, he was also proud of his gardens; flowers, fruits and vegetables. Most summers you could find a fruit and veggie stand out by the road, alongside the dulse box. He had many faithful dulse customers that he looked forward to hearing from every year. He also looked forward to phone calls from his daughter and grandson in Alberta and proudly shared their news with anyone who came to visit him. We as a family will forever miss him and will always remember his love for a good game of pool (the ones that he won), cat naps on the living room floor, his alltime favourite show, Coronation Street, a place he always talked about visiting and of course, his love for his wife, Deborah. Together they shared 55 years of marriage, countless hours in the gardens and on the dulse roof, many trips to Maine and Florida and many, many games of crazy 8’s and 45’s. Days he wasn’t in the garden, he was usually playing cards with Deb and Bus, or anyone willing to put up with his “not cheating”. He is survived by his daughter, Patty (Eric), grandsons, Cody (Amanda) and Ryan, granddaughters, Mandra (John) and Melanie (Kody), sister, Marion (Max), brothers, Buster and Stewart, great grandchildren, Emma, Sophia and Weston “Sonny” and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by wife, Deborah, sister, Elizabeth and son, Stacy. “Thanks a million” to daughter in law, Shelly, for all the meals and grocery trips. No funeral at his request. Donations in his memory can be made to the Condon Cemetery.
