Edward Clair Fredericks
April 15, 1945 – July 6, 2025
It comes with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad & Grampy. Dad passed peacefully and pain free, at the noble age of 80, the morning of July 6, 2025 at Soldiers Memorial Hospital. Dad fought a long battle with COPD and is no longer struggling.
Dad was born in Annapolis Royal and grew up in Tupperville. He was the son of the late Walter and Helen (Vidito) Fredericks. In his younger years, Dad worked in Ontario doing factory jobs, drove 18 wheeler trucks for Thompsons, and had a lovely restaurant with his wife Janet named “E & J’s Take-Out.” Dad loved to garden, and keep his lawn looking pristine. He loved to go hunting and bag a big buck. He always enjoyed a game of poker, crib, or card games; loved to have a rum ‘n’ Pepsi, or a cold Labatt blue. He loved spending time playing the slot machines at the Annapolis Legion, and rarely missed a Bingo night at the Clementsport Legion. He always loved Sunday evenings, when we would all gather and listen to the Country Jamboree on AVR.
For the last 40 years and even until the very end, Dad took much pride in his business “Ed’s Taxi.” Dad loved to drive, and he cared deeply for every person who he ever travelled with. If you were lucky, you probably got picked up with a trunk full of grandchildren. Grampy loved to bring us along for the ride.
Dad is survived by the mother of his children, Janet Fredericks. Daughter Nicole (Steve) Fredericks and Son Matthew (Tessa) Fredericks. Grandchildren Kelsey (Rickie) Taylor, Kaitlin (Johnny) Oliver, Hunter Fredericks, Olivia (Cody) Taylor, Emma Jefferson, Darrell Jefferson. Sisters Mona Fredericks, Helen (Donnie) Johnston, Faye (Kenneth) Halliday. Brother Henry (Shirley) Fredericks. And many, many loved nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents. Brothers Jim Fredericks & Richard Fredericks. Brothers Wayne & Charles in infancy. Sisters Geraldine Vidito, Peggy Harlow, Kay Melanson, and Effie Amero.
Thank you to Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Valley Regional Hospital, VON Home support for all your compassionate care. And a very special thank you to Nicole Hudson, Leeanne Rogers, Stephanie Gennette and her children. Your help and kindness over the years did not go unnoticed. You brought “Eddie” so much joy and happiness and you were like his grandchildren, too. He loved you all.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home. A private family burial will take place at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 12 for all immediate family members to attend, officiated by Herb Anderson. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 pm at the Round Hill Hall. All are welcome to share their love and fond memories of Ed. Please bring a plate to share.
Dad/Grampy/Eddie was a kind, gentle, patient, loving, hardworking man. He took great pride in everything he did and who he was. He will live in our memory and our hearts forever, and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Rest peacefully Dad – enjoy those full, deep breaths and fresh air. We will miss you.
