Obituary of Caroline Rose Wills

Please share a memory of Caroline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with love and cherished memories that we celebrate the life of Caroline Rose Wills, who peacefully passed away surrounded by family on June 24th in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia.

Carol was born in Long Point, Cape Breton, to the late Hugh and Christena (MacDougall) Wills. She was predeceased by her siblings Sydney, Jimmy, Bernie, Leo, Mary, Rita (Weaver), Florence (LeBlanc) and Ann (Boyle).

Growing up in Long Point, Carol attended Leon’s Academy in Sydney, where she discovered her passion for beauty and caring for her clients.  She earned a Certificate of Cosmetology and, with her entrepreneurial spirit, co-founded the Carol Ann Beauty Salon with her sister Ann in Antigonish, where she resided most of her life. Her dedication, talent, and warmth made her a beloved figure in her community.

Carol’s courage and resilience shone throughout her life. During a period of mid-life reinvention, she took on new challenges, like learning to drive, with great humor and patience. She retrained to  become a personal support worker—dedicating herself to caring for others with kindness and compassion for over 25 years.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was a dedicated, loving mother to Bradley (Sandra) and Matthew (Sylvia), and a proud grandmother to Holden, Delilah, Corin, Rhys, Anson, and Bria. Carol’s generous spirit brought joy to everyone she met, and her selfless nature made a lasting impact on those around her.

Throughout her life, Carol exemplified courage, kindness, and sincerity—qualities that endeared her to all who knew her. She was a truly special person whose legacy of love, resilience, and caring will continue to inspire.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held with a funeral mass at The Stella Maris Catholic Parish in Creignish, Cape Breton on August 16th, 2025 at 1pm.

A special thank you to the amazing staff at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home and Dr Ken Buchholz who provided Carol with such incredible care over her time in the home.
