Obituary of Richard Troy McGinis
Richard Troy McGinis, (yes Richard, But I have gone by Troy since I could talk)
May 20, 1970 – June 8, 2025
If you are reading this it means I didn’t get to ring the bell, it means I got my bell rung by cancer, and yes, I wrote my own obituary.
I was born on May 20, 1970 in Annapolis Royal. I was the baby of five boys. I was predeceased by my parents, Danny and Millie; big brothers Gary and Steven, and my best friend pitbull Jack 2016-2025. I am survived by my loving wife of 14 years Jill McGinis, Litchfiled, my brother Danny (Carol) , Lower Sackville, my other brother Scotty (Sylvie), Canmore, Alberta, my other love of my life pitbull mix, Millie and a couple of cats (I tolerate).
To all of my nieces and nephews I love you all, I am so proud of all you have accomplished and I am sorry I wasn’t a better uncle.
I loved my sports, Bengals, Islanders, Braves and the Yankees. Yes, no Canadian teams.
I want to thank Alan and Patty Longmire for all you have done for all of us, I love you. Take care of my queen. To my extended family Kev and Dorothy Marshall, Emily and Addison thank you all for coming into our lives. Also, I was to thank the staff at the VRH Chemo unit, Dr. Ravi, Lower Sackville, Medical day unit at the QE2 and the staff at Dr. Buchholz’s office, Annapolis Royal.
I have decided to be cremated, and there will no visitation. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday June 12, in Hillsburn Cemetery, with Pastor Bob Elliott officiating.
To all my friends and family please stay happy and healthy, I will miss you all. To my wife it will always be “me and you”. I wish I could hold you one more time, love you babe. I miss you already. To Millie be a good girl daddy loves you.
To Ali, Colby and Addison always do your best and always be you. You will rock at whatever you choose you to do in life, and remember I will be smiling down on you.
To you all I love you, this is not a see you later, this is a good bye xoxo. Till we meet again, and remember this “we are here for a good time not a long time, so have a good time the sun can’t shine everyday”.
Jill and I would like to thank all the nurses at the chemo clinic at VRH, to all the doctors.
Donations can be made at the Oncology department, VRH.
P.S. I still might swallow a bottle of uncooked pop corn kernels just for fun. LOL
