Obituary of Madeline Shirley McWhinnie

Madeline Shirley (Christiansen) McWhinnie – 83 of Port Wade, passed away on June 2nd 2025 at Annapolis Community Health Centre. Born in Richmond, N.Y. to Chris and Adela Christiansen. Raised by her aunt Viola and uncle Dan Forbes. At the age of three month she moved to Parrsborro N.S. In 1959, she married Irving McWhinnie. She is survived by her four children, Charles (Valarie), Debora, Allen (Vikki) and Mary (Tom); 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased, by her husband Irving (2018); mother, father, grandson, David Copp; aunts, uncles, sisters and brother. Madeline worked at Wolfs Nursing Home, Annapolis Royal as a CNA; was a Search Master with Digby Ground Search and Rescue, she dug clams and spare time worked at Dave's Fresh Clams. She loved hunting; was a licensed hunting guide and loved puzzles. The family would like to extend their gratitude of thanks to uncle Ralph for taking such good care of mom that allowed her to stay in her own home after dad passed away. Following Madeline's wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 7 from 7pm to 9pm. A Funeral will be held Sunday June 8, 2025 at 2pm, both from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal, with Richard Weir officiating. Burial will follow in Port Wade Cemetery.
