Obituary of Violet Marjorie Lucy Hamilton
Violet Marjorie Lucy Hamilton of Digby, formally of Port Royal, passed away peacefully May 19, 2025 in Mountain Lea Lodge Nursing Home. Born in Portapique, Colchester County, NS, she was daughter of the late William and Alice (Bateman) Hunt and loving wife of the late Lovett Hamilton for 62 years.
She was a member of the Granville Beach United Baptist Church where she was active in the very life of the Church. She started very young as a Sunday School teacher and because of her great love for little children she taught the beginner class. As time went on, she became Superintendent of that Sunday School. She was also Co-leader of Baby Band & Mission Band and a member of the Choir. She was a life member of the Women’s Missionary Society and a member of the sewing club. You could also find her on the road collecting for many Charities, whenever she was called.
Her life was an example of joyous service to her Lord and her tremendous love and dedication to her family. She wore a smile most often and her laugh and sense of fun were contagious. She was loved by everyone who met her.
She leaves to mourn her passing a daughter Darlene Auby (Randy) of Digby, a son Ray (Michelle) of Kentville, a granddaughter Christina Auby of Digby, grandsons Mattias “Matt”, Lucas & Tyler Hamilton, all of Kentville, twin great-grandsons Owen & Oliver Potter of Digby and sister-in-law Jane (Charles) Hunt of Toronto, ON, as well as many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by infant sons Clinton Charles and Lovett Jr, brothers Stanley “Billy”, Charles & Ronald, sisters Maisie, Mary & Ethel.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Mountian Lea Lodge for the wonderful care and compassion Violet recieved during the time she spent with them.
The funeral service will be held at Granville Beach United Baptist Church, June 6th, at 2:00pm. Internment in Litchfield, Delaps Cove Cemetery immediately following the service. Family flowers only. Donations in memory can be made to the Lower Granville United Baptist Church, Sewing Circle or a charity of your choice.
