Obituary of Jack Edwin Fredericks

April 6, 1940 - February 7, 2025

Jack Edwin Fredericks of Bridgetown passed away on February 7th, 2025, at the age of 84. Born in Carleton Corner on April 6th, 1940 to Warren and Alberta (Veinott) Fredericks. In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his infant son Paul, his sisters, Joan, May, Goldie, brother Warren, and sister-in-law Lila. He is survived by his sister Audrey, his children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Jack is father to Paul, Mary Ann (Alan), Barry (Dorothy), and Randy. He is grandfather to Tiffany (Kirstie), Alan, Jazmyn (James), and Gabrielle. Jack spent his younger years growing up on the Thorne Rd., West Dalhousie where he hunted, fished, raised rabbits, and gained his love for various farm animals including horses. He started his working career at various sawmills, farms, and orchards. He later became a well driller for O.V. Kennedy, drilling wells throughout Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. He was very proud of the well at Britex in Centerlea. After marrying, he moved to New England in 1963, where he worked as a diesel mechanic for P.B. Mutrie. At one point operating his own Trucking Company. Later working as Service Manager at United Truck Leasing (UTL) and for many years the acting Director of the Maintenance Association of the Granite State (MAGS). He thoroughly enjoyed his final career role as sales rep for Brookline Machine Company, where he spent many years, and eventually retiring at age 79. He had various hobbies that he enjoyed throughout life including hunting and fishing, car shows, antiques, yard sales, listening to country music, and along with his former spouse of 18 years Myrtle (Leopold), belonged to a Square Dancing club. After retiring, he returned to Nova Scotia where he enjoyed his final years living in the old homestead and over on the bayshore. His wanderlust for the backroads, hills, and islands never faded. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 18, 2025, in All Saints Anglican Church, Gibson Lake.  As per his wishes, Jack will be laid to rest at All Saints Anglican Cemetery at Gibson Lake, with his Grandparents Warren and Mary (Hannam) Fredericks. Donations in memory may be made to All Saints Anglican Church or to a charity of choice.
