It is with heavy hearts that we regretfully announce the unexpected passing of Denis Henri Joseph Leclair at the age of 67 on May 4, 2025 at the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, NS.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Joyce Leclair (Jones) and son Matthew Leclair; sisters Claudette Chenier and Diane Leclair, and many nieces, nephews, great-nephews and cousins; sister-in-laws Barb Fairey (Bob), Elaine Jones (Les) and Gwenda Jones.

Besides his parents Hermini Leclair and Gilbert (Laurin), he was predeceased by brothers Claude (wife Rita), Don and Norm; father-in-law Francis Arthur Jones and mother-in-law Gladys Jones (Rose); brother-in-law Carl Jones (Sue).

Denis had a long and successful career of 30 years working in numerous departments of the Health Science North (formerly Sudbury Laurentian Hospital) prior to retiring in 2012. For many years in Sudbury, he enjoyed visiting the “Camp” with his family. After retiring he enjoyed a second career as a Certified Home Inspector in Sudbury. Denis became an avid pool player (Annapolis Royal Legion) and pickle ball player (the Hub) after retiring to Granville Centre, NS in 2018. In his younger years, he was a “star” hockey player, enjoyed playing tennis with his wife and friends and had a keen interest in cars. Denis enjoyed nature and developed a love of viewing wildlife and special birds in Granville Centre and area. The family wants to express their sincere appreciation of the care Denis received in the last week of his life on the Medical A floor at the Valley Regional Hospital with special mention for Dr. Emily Whalen and Dr. Nicholas Peter Opthof, and Nurses Nathaniel, Melinda, Chelsea and Simi and many other kind caregivers. Special thanks to his family doctors, Dr. Sylvie Aikman-Green and Dr. Ken Buchholz for their care and attention to Denis for many years.

A celebration of Denis’ life will be held in the near future - details will follow.

Memorial donations in remembrance of Denis may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 21 (Annapolis Royal), the Valley Regional Hospital, Scleroderma Canada or a charity of choice. On-line condolences may be made at www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
