Obituary of Ellen Sandra Sarty

It is with a heavy heart. that I announce that Ellen Sandra Sarty, of Port Wade passed away peacefully at Valley Regional Hospital in the ICU on April 24th 2025, with her son by her side.

She is survived by her son David Sarty, and predeceased by her husband Reg Sarty, and brother Reg Mailman and parents Violet and Tom Mailman of New Albany. 

Mom was active in many churches in her lifetime, with an unwavering faith.

She was a lifelong teacher, starting in Wilmot, then Parker's Cove and finishing her career in 2005 at Champlain Elementary.

In her spare time, mom helped with their hobby farm, often saying she was the "gofor".

Mom also was an incredible cook and baker, and had in the past made as many as 37 different sweets during the holiday season.  

In 2020 she lost the love of her life and began her battle with evolving health issues, but with a determined attitude that she would succeed. 

To pass the time, mom started doing word searches and connecting the dots, to keep her mind active - as she would say.  

Mom may be gone from this earth, but her spirit will live on in her son forever. 

Visitation will be held 2-4pm and 7-9pm, Monday April 28, with a funeral service being held 2pm Tuesday April 29, 2025 both from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal, with Rev. Deann Carter officiating. Burial in Port Wade Cemetery following the service. Donations in Moms memory may be made to charity of choice.
