Obituary of James "Brad" Hall
It’s with infinite sadness, profound sorrow and extremely heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear Brad. An amazing, kind and caring man who deeply loved his family. It is an unimaginable and painful loss.
Brad was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, he is survived by his wife and life partner of 27 years, Renée; his incredible children, his daughter Sophia and his son Finn, his parents, Peter and Valerie and his brother Jeffrey.
Taken from us suddenly and far too soon, we say farewell while honouring the gifts that you have left us, as we are all the better for having been in your presence. For us, life can never be the same, but we will find solace in the memories that we were so fortunate to create with you.
With an adventurous spirit, Brad was always “all in” when it came to life. We imagine him sailing the northwest passage, as he dreamed, one day, to do while imparting his knowledge of all things over a game of poker. Oh! how we miss you, the dinner and poker table will never be the same without you. Brad, we remember you always and will find you in our hearts for all the days remaining.
Although too short, Brad lived a life rich in experiences. He met the love of his life, Renée, out west and they set roots in the Arctic where they were embraced by the community and culture. Brad loved activities on the land and left his legacy through service. Those times were some of best days of his life; and it was a privilege to be welcomed and loved as a member of the Iqaluit community. The bonds made with his friends from those days can never be broken.
Brad's family was his world. Being a dad was everything to him. There never was a person happier than to become a dad. There was nothing, he would not do for Sophia and Finn. May the lessons and wise words, he passed along to you both, live forever in your hearts, as you can always lean on his guiding light. He was, and forever will be, so proud of you both. He walks with you in spirit wherever you may roam.
Brad loved nature and was able to be surrounded by it at home. He especially loved to pass the time in the pine forest in his yard. He had an insatiable thirst for knowledge; and loved reading, especially about all things sailing. He loved travel and his adventurous spirit was infectious. From living in different parts of Canada, to getting married in and driving around Mexico, to traipsing around Europe to see Formula 1 races (Brad never missed a race); seeing the world with his love provided great joy. He loved music and was able to see so many of his favourite bands in person, he regaled us with so many stories from these times, always fondly recalling his adventures in music with his good buddy Chris. Brad was also able to pick up any instrument and play it. Our home will forever be filled with the beautiful music of your memory. A truly brilliant man in so many respects.
As this loss cuts so deeply within our souls, we, Brad's family ask for privacy during this time. We thank all for their notes of comfort and ask for your patience, as we find our footing in navigating a world without our compass. A public celebration of life will take place at a later date.
We also extend a note of thanks to those who were with Brad during his passing and the medical professionals who did their utmost best to save this gentle and beautiful soul.
We are mourning you while having gratitude for the footprints you have left on our hearts. Go in peace and love dearest, Brad. The song has ended but the melody lives on.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Do keep us in your prayers, hearts and minds. Especially for his children, for this is a loss that no child should have to bear at such a young age.
