I wish to send condolences to my school chum Heather (and family) on the recent passing of her husband Don. I don't remember whether I met Don many years ago when living in Hantsport; however, reading his obit and tributes show he was a special guy, well respected, and appeared to enjoy life. I am sure there will be lots of wonderful memories to help everyone through this tough, unexpected time.

So sorry to hear of Donald’s passing.
Fond memories from our youth…..a long, long time ago….playing cowboys and indians in the Marshall’s pasture after getting a ‘kitchen haircut’ from his mother, Marie. I remember Foozy’s quick wit and strong sense of humour. He will be fondly remembered by his many friends and family.
My condolences to you all

This is Karen ( Walker) Gail you will remember me. Last time I saw Foose and you , was in 2023. I came every summer as a child. We all played and rambled around Hampton together. I’ll miss him being there. Didn’t get to see either of you last summer, was on the list for this year. Doesn’t pay to put things off at our age. He was always full of fun and mischief.

Heather, Erin, Luke and family - our heartfelt condolences from all the McGinns. So many childhood memories and most vividly are the ones with the laughter. I was the gullible one that would get picked on in good fun, slow to pick up on the jokes as his sense of humor couldn’t be topped. Avon Street neighbors and friends will always be family. Giant hugs to you all during this difficult time. Sincerely, T

Dear Heather, Eric, Luke and Family:
Our condolences on your loss. Don was an ardent Home Hardware supporter and a pioneer with the organization. He was always committed to the customer and always had fun in the process. He played a key role in establishing and growing Home Hardware in the Valley. I always miss Don's quick wit. Please take care and may he rest in peace.

Don was a giving, kind, hard-working and dedicated family man who had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. I worked with Don at Home Hardware in Wolfville and he would pick me up at my driveway in Hantsport and drive me to and from work every day. He taught me what hard work was and the skills to deal with customers, which was challenging at times. Once a lady complained about the price of a ladle and he said “Today is your lucky day, it’s free” and gave it to her and she said thanks and walked out the door. There was a snow blizzard one day and no one was on the roads, not even a snow plow, but he picked me up and we drove to Wolfville from Hantsport plowing through the snow and got stuck a few times but we made it. He never missed a day and he loved his job and the customers, called them all by their first name and they all knew him. I will miss our yearly phone calls where we would talk for hours about life. God bless and condolences to Heather, Erin and Luke and families.
Love

Heather, and family, Our sincere sympathy to you and all members of Foose (Donald's) family Growing up not far away, in Port Lorne,I knew Foose, and his siblings. We all travelled on the same school bus, driven by my Dad, Robie Young. I also have memories of the kids from both communities getting together for baseball games, and other fun times. It's true, with age comes reminiscing. May the wonderful memories you two made over the 50+ years you spent together bring you comfort in the days ahead. Please know you're in our thoughts and prayers. Evelyn and Russell Hannam

I have known Foose since we were very young living in Hampton. His sister, Nellie was one of my best friends. I have many fond memories of going to their house skating on the duck pond in the winter and playing in the hay loft in the summer.
Please accept my sincere condolences and hope you find comfort and strength with your family, remembering fond memories from the past.

Am remembering a fun loving , tormenting teen riding the Hampton bus to Bridgetown High School. By the time I got to school I was generally tired from all the laughter that Foosie made sure took place each and every day. I am so sorry for his family as they learn to live with a large presence missing from their lives. Thinking of you Gail. Rest Easy Foose , lot of laughter going on in Heaven with Neil and Nellie-Jane.

While Fred has known Don & Heather for many years, I only got to know them after buying our cottage in Hampton and am grateful for our enduring friendship.
So many fun times together including annual washer toss tourneys with Don & Heather taking the championship at least twice! Loved visiting them and scouring for sea glass.
Don had a wonderful sense of humour and could always get big laughs with his many stories. We have only happy memories of him and he will be missed.
Heather, Erin, Luke and families-we are so very sorry for your loss. Know that we are thinking of you.

One of my many wonderful memories is Uncle Foose teaching us kids how to ‘run on the rocks’ along Hampton beach much to the chagrin of mom and dad. We learned to discern the stable from the unstable, wet from dry, avoid the seaweed, and zoom! Barely a scraped knee learning from the master

Dear Heather , Erin, Luke and families.
I was so sorry to hear of Don’s passing. To say he made my time at Wolfville Home Hardware feel like anything but a job would be an understatement. All theses years later I still remember fondly, Don’s laugh and his outlook towards the work day.
My favorite memory is probably taking Don to New Minas to get his motorcycle license. Slipping away from work on the Kawasaki 400 that he had bought from a friend in Windsor. But everyday he made it nice to come to work and I am sure I am not the only employee would would say that.
Unfortunately I am away and will not be able to attend the service, but know you are all in my thoughts.
Sincerely,
Trina Cuvilier Norman
