Obituary of Stephen Burton Mills

Mills, Stephen Burton -71, of Centrelea, Annapolis County, passed away on March 3rd, 2025 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital.  Born in Middleton, he was the son of the late Murray and Gladys (Devaney) Mills.  Steve was an avid outdoorsman; a lifelong fisher, hunter and trapper, as well as an accomplished gardener.  A carpenter most of his life (except for that time he went in on a fishing boat), he was a talented self-taught taxidermist and fur trader as well.  And although a life long resident of Centrelea, he was known to have had a wild adventure or two.  In later years Steve’s love of nature and solitary creativity led him to wood carving, handcrafted knives, and various carpentry projects.  He will be remembered as one who spoke little, but said much. He was predeceased by siblings Ethel, Clare, Cecil, Lawrence, and Joseph. Cremation has already taken place.  At Steve’s request there will be no visitation nor funeral, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a local animal shelter.
