Obituary of Alexander Earl Ellis
Alexander Earl Ellis
03 June 1957 - 04 February 2025
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Alex (Al) at home in Victoria Beach, Nova Scotia at the age of 67.
He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Darlene Ellis (née MacLeod); their three sons Jon Ellis (Julia), Owen Ellis (Ashley), and Jordan Ellis (Lisa); his three granddaughters Ava, Lexi, Hailey and a fourth expected in May; his mother Helen Ellis; two brothers Tom Ellis (Darlene) and Eric Ellis (Sue); mother-in-law Ruth MacLeod; brother-in-law Darrell MacLeod (Eileen); four nephews Mitchel Ellis, Justin Ellis, Ian Ellis, and Robert MacLeod; two nieces Amie MacLeod and Lauren Blackmore; the Graham siblings Donna, Andrew, Eddie, and Miles; and close friends Dale Ellis, Ian Lawrence, Scott Newcombe. He was predeceased by his father Earle Ellis, his father-in-law Donald MacLeod, and his nephew Joshua Ellis.
Alex held many careers throughout his life from working at a fish plant when he was younger, to working for himself as a hand-painted sign artist. Eventually his love of things nautical led him to the Annapolis Royal boat haul-up where he spent 18 years painting and repairing boats.
Alex had a creative and curious mind, and could teach himself any skill. He loved working with his hands, and was a great artist, musician, and woodworker. His home is filled with his drawings, paintings, woodcraft, and other unique creations. Alex played guitar daily and listened to a wide variety of music from his carefully curated record collection. He was also an avid birder and a skilled gardener. Alex loved spending time with his family and especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren, who called him Pop.
At Alex’s request no funeral will be held. Cremation has taken place with a family burial to be held at a later date.

Alex was a fun and loving father, grandfather, and an extraordinary husband.
His life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.
We will always carry his love in our hearts and see him in the stars.
