Clifford Henderson Jones – Waldeck East

A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and neighbour lost his battle with oral cancer in Yarmouth Hospital ER on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Clifford was born in Annapolis Royal, July 1, 1940, two months before his father shipped out to join the war effort.

He loved farm work and the outdoors. He left for UNB in 1958 obtaining a BSc. in 1962 and a BEd. in 1963. He spent several summers taking courses for his Cert.6. He loved teaching and was innovative in his methods in teaching Biology at FHS for 13 years. He took a leave of absence in 1967 and departed for the UK with one of his students in tow. He and Pat were married in Woking that October.

The call of the soil drew him back to the family farm in 1978 with a family of three small children. He was determined to make farming his sole occupation and with hard work it finally became Jones Farm and Greenhouses until 2006 when it closed. Cliff kept on tilling the soil. He loved farmer’s markets which allowed him to interact with people, tell jokes and provide quality goods.

In the 70’s Jesus Movement, Cliff and Pat became followers of Jesus and Cliff’s faith never faltered. He was known for his reliability and integrity. He served as a Deacon at Clementsport, Deep Brook, Culloden and as part of leadership at the Annapolis Basin Vineyard Fellowship. In the early days he and Pat were a musical team at church events and in late years he played music with his classical guitar, even as recently as January 2025 as his strength was failing. He will be missed.

He was the son of R. Clifford and Ethel (Henderson) Jones. He is survived by wife, Patricia (Twist); sons, Geoff (Jacqueline, Rhys and Charis), Burnaby, BC; Jeremy, Revelstoke, BC; daughter, Lara (Mike Leger, Josiah), Riverview, NB; sister, Marie (Ross Carr) Cambridge; several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Audbur, Daryl, Wilfred; sister, Avis Beattie.

We owe a debt of gratitude to many people including Dr. Rigby, staff of 3B at the Dickson, Dr. Wilkie, VON, EHS all of whom provided compassionate care. Thanks also to Pastors Dave and Ada Taylor, Craig, Vassil, Riley, David B, Ross who drove to appointments when Pat could not. Many thanks to Cindy and Robert, Terry and Christine, and Clifford A. who were always there when mechanical troubles occurred. For the many who prayed, encouraged and were just there for us; God Bless you all. Cliff is with his Lord, where he was longing to be for the last year.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2pm Saturday February 15, 2025, at the Bear River East Baptist Church. Donations in Cliff’s memory may be made to VON or Samaritan’s Purse. Online condolence may be made at www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
