Obituary of Brenda Doreen Webb

Please share a memory of Brenda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Webb, Brenda Doreen, L.P.N – 73, South Brookfield, Queens County, passed away January 26, 2025 at North Queens Nursing Home. Born in Bridgewater, she was the only child of J.W. ‘Jack’ and Marjorie (Frail) Ritchie. She, like her grandmother Ritchie, and Aunts Betty and Winnie became a nurse, graduating from Dartmouth Vocational School in 1973. Following Graduation, she worked at the V.G. Hospital, Halifax. In 1979, when an opportunity to work at the North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia, she quickly returned to be “back home”. In 1984, she opened her own senior care home in her own home in South Brookfield Corner. Then in 1991, she built a purpose building down the road and called it Meadowbrook Manor and operated until April 1, 2021, when dementia robbed her the ability to tend to seniors.

Besides her passion of senior care, she made many meals, loaves of Bread and Date Squares. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, embroidery, and the Queens County Fair. Brenda was committed to her community.

She was a member of the South Brookfield Zion Baptist Church and was deeply religious. She was a life member of the Woman’s Missionary Society.

Brenda is survived by her sons, Jonathan and Mark of Caledonia; several cousins; devoted friend and neighbor, Queena Waterman; many friends and employees of Meadowbrook and ex-husband, Raymond, whom she remained friends with.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her very good friends, Linda and Jim Dobson.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Visitation will be held 5-7pm Thursday January 30, 2025 at the South Brookfield Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held 1pm, Friday January 31, 2025 at the North Queens Fire Hall, Caledonia, with reception to follow. Reverend Royce Getson and Chaplain Carol Smith officiating. Interment will be at a later date. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to the South Brookfield Union Cemetery, South Brookfield Zion Baptist Church or charity of choice.

We would like to thank Hillsview Acres, Middlefield and North Queens Nursing Home for caring and to everyone who has supported us.
