With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our darling Mother, Pearle, known to many as “Mommy Pearle”. Mom passed on her brother Carl’s Birthday, shortly after 7pm on June 2, 2023. Mom passed at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home, on the “Wolfe Wing”.

 Mom lived in Clementsport, with her husband, the late Arnold Lewis, our Dad, who passed on December 25, 1991. Mom was from Guinea, Clementsport, and was a daughter to the late Edward and Lena (Maughan) O’Brien. Her siblings were, Bruce, Carl and Gertrude (Patrick Daye), Jeddore, Halifax, Co. She is survived by son, David (Ester Banks-Lewis; her children, Lisa, Laura, Beth and their families), Bear River; daughters, Beverley (Rick Olsen), Digby and Bonnie-Lynn, Clementsport. Also her niece, Evelyn (Jim Acker; daughter, Diane), Lake Charlotte, Halifax Co. and the late Eileen (Leon Stevens; daughter, Angela) Jeddore, Halifax Co.

Mom loved us dearly, as did Dad. We were so lucky to have such loving and kind parents that would do anything for us. Before having a fall and breaking her hip and shoulder and before Covid, Mom faithfully attended church at St. Edwards, Clementsport.

Mom loved to bake and gave a lot away, especially pies, her favorite was Lemon. Mom was a true stay at home, a real mommy. She loved flowers and was an avid reader. She donated to many charities. Mom loved her cats, no cat ear was safe.

Mom looked after children over the years, we won’t name you all but know she loved you. Hence the nickname “Mommy Pearle”

We would like to thank the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home, the “Wolfe Wing”, Dr. Ken Buchholz. Ken was moms Dr for over 40 years, a friend.

A visitation will be held 6-8pm Wednesday June 7, 2023 in the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal.  A Graveside service will be held 11am Thursday June 8, 2023 in Old St. Edwards Cemetery, Clementsport, with Canon Ken Vaughan officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association, the IWK, the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home or charity of choice.

So it’s true, when all is said and done, grief is the price we pay for love.
