Obituary of Hazel 'Marie' Hebb
Please share a memory of Hazel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
HEBB, HAZEL "MARIE", 85, passed away on April 14, 2021, at Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre (LTCC) in Middleton, N.S. Born on August 9, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Hazel (Rock) Halliday, Granville Beach, N.S.
Marie worked at United Elastic Ltd. for several years then changed careers and worked for over 25 years at Mountain Lea Lodge where she enjoyed caring and helping the residents as a nurse’s aide.
Marie was an easy-going, matter of fact - this is just how life goes, good natured, proud, and stoic woman. She loved spending time with her family, especially holidays when they had all come together, tending her flower gardens, feeding, and watching her hummingbirds. She made tasty jams & pickles (the best mustard pickles), cookies, and pies. She enjoyed going for drives in the country especially to Karen's place to see the horses and play with the puppies, watching local parades (better arrive early for a good spot, bring some snacks), and could always be found sitting in the stands at horse shows & ox pulls (even pulled a team a time or two). She liked a good fish burger (don’t forget the tartar sauce & lettuce), a few onion rings & fries. Figure skating and music TV shows entertained her.
She will be loved and remembered forever. “You’re a very strong woman, Mom” … “Sometimes you just have to be.”
Marie is survived by daughter Rose (Blaine) Durling, Bridgetown, son John (Patsy Dugas) Hebb, South Ohio, daughter Marion Hebb, Yarmouth, and daughter Karen (Laurie) Hardacker, Weston. Grandchildren, Robert Campbell, Ryan Campbell, Sheila Hebb, Andrew Hebb, Albert Hebb, several great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Sisters, Iona Charlton, Mae West; brothers, Richard Halliday and Neil Halliday; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Lawrence (Bobby) Hebb, brothers, Roland, Frank, baby Robert, Rob, Francis, and sisters, Evelyn Halliday, Doris Hebb and Ruth Fredericks.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. A graveside service and burial will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 20, at the Anglican Cemetery, Bridgetown.
Thank you to the nursing staff at Heart of The Valley LTCC who cared for mom with respect, compassion, and empathy. Donations in Marie's memory may be made to the Recreation Department at the Heart of The Valley LTCC, Middleton, N.S.
COVID RESTRICTIONS WILL APPLY. MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIRED.
