Long, Gerald “Bibs” Parker – 85, of Clementsvale, passed away after a short illness April 24, 2017, in the Annapolis Community Health Center. Born November 15, 1931, in Clementsvale, he was the son of the late Parker and Francis (Gesner) Long. Bibs had a 25 year military career, which lead him many places. Upon his retirement, he came back to his home in Clementsvale, to begin farming. Bibs enjoyed working in the fields, bailing hay and thrashing oats. He also loved the woods, cutting for firewood or lumber and planting trees to replenish the forest. He built his own little sawmill and for many years ran it for himself or any neighbor that needed a board cut. He was an avid supporter for Clementsport Legion Branch #122, often playing pool, cribbage and bridge. He will be forever remembered sitting under the maple tree enjoying a home brew.  He is survived by his daughters, Mary Catherine (Brian) Cook, of Petawawa, and Faye Bell of Clementsvale; grandchildren, Jay Barron, Candice Barron, David Cook, Natasha Bell, and Amberley Cleland; 13 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brothers, Reginald of Bear River, and Raymond of Phoenix, Arizona. He was predeceased by his first wife, Betty (Davidson) Long; his second wife, Rose (Vanvleek) Long; son in-law, Dick Bell. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. There will be no service by request.
