Bryan (Perrott), Hazel Mary passed away April 21,2017 at the age of 93. Born in Exmouth, Devon, England on October 9, 1923. She was the elder daughter of the late Reginald and Lilian (Apps) Perrott.

Hazel will be greatly missed by her son Andrew (Deanna) and daughter Sarah ( Doug) Armstrong, and her grandchildren Thomas, Rachel, Kaitlyn, Nicole and Sarah; sister Rosemary in the United Kingdom. She was predeceased by her husband John Bryan; brothers: Richard (Victoria, BC) and Kenneth (UK) and granddaughter Meagan Louise Armstrong.

Hazel was a Home Economics teacher, teaching in England, Bermuda, Halifax, Victoria, Dartmouth (where she was the first Supervisor of Home Economics) and finally in Annapolis Royal. She also became the first female Commanding Officer of an Army Cadet Corp in the Maritimes. Through her efforts and leadership,1714 RCACC won the Strathcona Cup awarded to the top Army Cadet Corps in Nova Scotia in 1980. An avid gardener, her garden in Granville ferry twice won first prize as the best gardens in Annapolis County. She opened Riverdale Pottery at the log cabin in Granville Ferry, and then took up rug hooking and finally quilting and oil painting. All her creations showed the high standard she always set for herself. Hazel was a member of the Anglican Church. The greatest love of her life were her beloved children and grandchildren. Hazel had a great sense of humour (which she will always be known for) and treasured the love of her many friends.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Annapolis Royal with Rev. Tory Byrne officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in Stoney Beach Cemetery, Granville Beach.
