Obituary of Leland "Pat" Elwin Potter

Please share a memory of Leland "Pat" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Potter, “Pat” Leland Elwin – 88 of Clementsvale, passed away January 11, 2017, in Annapolis Community Health Centre, Annapolis Royal. Born in Clementsvale, he was a son of the late Frederick and Ann (Gordon) Potter. Much loved by family and friends. His family and community were a very important part of his life. He was known as Pat Potter. When asked how he was, his wry sense of humour resulted in the well-known response “terrible”. He was our family’s rock, where we could turn for advice and calm. His 29 year career in the Canadian Armed Forces started as a paratrooper and continued in the artillery. Carpentry and fine woodworking allowed him to incorporate his sense of design in many projects including the renovation of his home. It seemed like he could tackle any project. The Cornwallis and Clementsvale Dart leagues and Clementsport Legion Bridge Club were treasured gatherings. Pat is survived by his son, Dr. Patrick James (Maureen Isabel) Potter, London Ontario; daughter, Janice Lori Potter, Victoria BC; sister, Ethel Margaret Foster, St. Catharines, Ontario; brothers, Lloyd Raymond Potter and Freeman “Glen” (Viola) Potter, both of Parkers Cove and three grandchildren, Meghan Elizabeth Clendining, Katelyn Maureen Potter and James Fitzpatrick Potter; special friend, Dorothy Wright. He was predeceased by wife, Agnes Elizabeth “Nan” (Wilson); sisters, Eunice Irene Saunders, Phyllis Ellen Bartosh and Eileen Pearl Potter; brothers, Gordon Watson Potter and Howard Oakley Potter. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Annapolis Royal, where visitation will be held Sunday, January 15, at 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm beginning with a Royal Canadian Legion Br. 122, service at 6:30 pm, followed by Order of Eastern Star Service, St. Mary’s Chapter #35 held at 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, January 16, in Clementsvale Baptist Church, Clementsvale, with Rev. Dr. Randy Legassie officiating. Burial will follow in Clementsvale Cemetery. Our sincere thanks to Dr. Ken Buchholz, nurses and staff of Annapolis Community Health Centre for the incredible care that he received. Donations in memory may be sent to Clementsvale Cemetery or Clementsvale Baptist Church. On line condolences may be made at www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com He is so very missed.
