Obituary of James Hoyt Frost

Frost, James Hoyt – 79 of Annapolis Royal, formerly of Bear River East has gone to be with his Lord. James enjoyed working from a young age where he could be found cutting and hauling pulpwood. He later moved to Ontario, where he worked many jobs including, picking tobacco, working for a company that dredged the Welland Canal and General Motors. Once moving back to Nova Scotia, he owned and operated the Irving garage in Bear River. James was a valued employee of Michelin Tire in Bridgewater for 15 years. It was during this time that he met and married his second wife, Laura Nichols of Digby. James retired in 1995, although his passion for work continued as he worked for Glenn Dunn’s truck garage as well as Isles Aviation. He was a dedicated member of the Digby Baptist Church, where he took on many volunteering duties. James enjoyed helping others and was passionate about helping to find a cure for Alzheimer’s. In 2015, James moved back to Annapolis Royal to spend time with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Louise (Brian) Oliver, Annapolis Royal; son, Rodney Frost, Thompson, Manitoba; stepdaughter, Betty Ann (Roger) Tweedy, Kentville; grandchildren, Colin Frost, Dartmouth, Courtney (Steven Spurr) Oliver, Annapolis Royal, Justin (Theresa) Oliver, Annapolis Royal; step grandchildren, Scott Grant, Stoney Creek, Ont., Barbara Nichols (Leo)Kennedy, Halifax, Ian Kennedy, Montreal. James is also survived by his siblings, Vivian (Welsford) Munro, New Germany, Marjorie Munro, Coldbrook, Evelyn (Don) Hayden, Rossway, Ethel (Bob) Green, Beaconsfield, Barry Frost, Bear River East, Janice (George) Dondale, Lequille as well as many nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by wife, Laura; stepson, John Nichols; step granddaughter, Michelle Kennedy; his parents, Hoyt and Mary Frost; his sister, Sylvia and her husband George Nuell; nephew, Ronnie Nuell; brother in law, Laurie Munro. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will take place 11am, Saturday December 31, 2016, at the Digby Baptist Church, with Pastor Jeff White and Ret. Pastor Don Robertson officiating. There will be no visitation.
