Gidney, Barbara Gertrude - 89 of Bridgetown, Annapolis County, passed away Dec 1, 2016 at her son’s home in Truro surrounded by family. Barbara was the daughter of the late James Allen Spurr and the late Kathleen Gertrude (Spurr) Spurr. Barbara was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on July 2nd 1927. Barbara shared her love and married twice first to William Anderson on Aug 25, 1948 then later with Edwin Gidney on Aug 14, 1992. Barbara worked many years at McGuinness (Acadian Distillers) in Bridgetown, Alcan plant in Toronto, Dept. of Lands and Forest and United Elastic (Britex). Barbara had a love for music including playing the harmonica, dancing and always humming a tune. She also loved bingo and enjoyed time with family and friends. She is survived by her son John (Patsy) Anderson Truro; sister Ruth Rowlings Annapolis Royal; sister Joyce (Perry) Butler Dugway Rd brother, Gordon (Donna-Lou) Spurr Dugway Rd; three grandchildren: Tina (Luke) Comeau Digby, Amanda (Joe) Anderson Bridgewater; Melissa (Julie) Anderson Truro, six great-grandchildren: Danica, John, Jared, Brody, Brooke and Melissa. Barbara was predeceased by her parents; her loving husbands William Anderson and Edwin Gidney; brother, Malcolm T Spurr; sister in-law Jean Spurr. We would like to thank the VON Palliative Care and Crosskill Court for all their help and support while Barbara was fighting her battle with Cancer. Special thank you to Dr. Bauld, Dr. Henderson, Dr. Goodine and Lisa Weatherbee for all their time and care. Visitation will be held 7-9 pm Sunday December 4th, with the funeral service to be held 2 pm, Monday, December 5th, 2016, both from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Rev. Joel Hardy officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Anglican Cemetery, Bridgetown. Donations made in memory can be sent to the Cancer Society or St. James Anglican Church, Bridgetown.
