DURLING, (Buckler) Ruby Gladys- 96, Halifax, formerly of Digby, passed away on August 26, 2010 at Arbourstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Born in Greenland, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Martha (Trimper) Buckler. Ruby was first and foremost a mother and grandmother and enjoyed her family very much. She was very proud of her four beautiful grandchildren, treated her daughter-in-law like her own daughter and thought the sun rose on her cherished son and daughter. She was an excellent homemaker and lived most of her life in the Digby and valley areas until her husband became ill with Alzheimer's disease at which time she relocated to Halifax. During his illness she was very devoted to him and visited him almost daily for ten years while he was a patient at the Camp Hill Veteran's Hospital until his passing in 1988. She is survived by her son, Ronald (Terri); her grandchildren, Craig (Stacey); Adam; Margot; and Joel; her great grandchildren, Clara and Mitchell, all of Halifax. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Comeau of Kentville; her nephew, Arnold (Vera) Comeau of New Minas; and her niece, Darlene (Larry) Meldrum of Dartmouth. She was predeceased by her husband Roy and her daughter, Joan Shank. A funeral service will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home at 385 Granville Street, Bridgetown, with Pastor Heather Gillis officiating followed by a reception, then interment in the Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. The family wishes to express their admiration and thanks to the staff on the 3rd and 4th floors of Arbourstone Enhanced Care for their support and care over the past six years while Ruby was a resident.
